Statistics
The Department of Statistics was established in 1967, initially offering ancillary courses to students of Mathematics. As a single-faculty department, it has maintained a focused approach to teaching the fundamental principles of statistics with dedication and academic rigor.
Over the years, the department has grown to meet the evolving needs of students and the academic community. In line with the increasing demand for practical and applied statistical skills, the curriculum has been enhanced to include courses on data analysis tools and techniques. These courses provide hands-on training in widely used statistical software and programming environments such as R, JASP and Excel, allowing students to analyze, interpret, and visualize real-world data effectively.
This shift towards practical data analysis not only strengthens students’ conceptual understanding but also prepares them for careers in research, data science, business analytics, and other data-centric fields. The integration of data analysis tools reflects the department’s commitment to providing contemporary and application-oriented education in statistics
