Bio
Dr. Elssa Ann Koshy is an accomplished Assistant Professor of Zoology at Christian College, Chengannur, Kerala. She holds a postgraduate degree from Loyola College and an M.Phil from Madras Christian College, both affiliated with Madras University, and earned her Ph.D. from Bharathiar University. She is recognized as a subject expert in tardigrade biology, with a special focus on their taxonomy, ecological distribution, and significance in astrobiology. As an active member of the global tardigrade specialist group, she has contributed extensively to research literature, establishing a strong track record of publications. Her research spans comprehensive field surveys, development of laboratory culture techniques, and application of molecular methods to explore the diversity of tardigrades in Indian ecosystems. Her work bridges fundamental taxonomy and cutting-edge molecular biology, enriching knowledge about these extraordinary micro-animals renowned for their resilience. Her scientific journey delves into the microscopic realm where tardigrades challenge traditional views on life’s durability and adaptability. She has presented her research findings at various national and international conferences, showcasing her work to the wider scientific community and engaging in academic exchange at multiple professional platforms.
